SWIMSAFE™ APPROVED BY USA TRIATHLON (USAT)
Inactivated SwimSafe can now be used in sanctioned race events
On Dec. 5, 2005 SwimSafe, a new swim safety device was approved
by the USA Triathlon for use in all USAT sanctioned race events.
Charlie Crawford, the USAT Commissioner of Officials stated "The
SwimSafe belt, has been tested and found to be legal for use in
USA Triathlon sanctioned events as long as it remains
inactivated. Once activated, the wearer would be
disqualified for using a flotation device." The belt is designed
to give a racer peace of mind during the swim portion of their
triathlon. This frees them to focus on swimming for better race
results. Should an emergency arise, SwimSafe is easy to use.
Once activated the swimmer is provided 16 pounds of flotation in
less than 5 seconds. The belt is lightweight, weighing only 11.5
ounces. It's design is compact and unobtrusive, allowing it to
be a racer's constant companion while in the open water. A
triathlete can use SwimSafe for their open water swim practice,
too. The device is reusable by attaching a new CO2 cartridge.
SwimSafe Is The Edge a Triathlete Needs in the Open Water!
Tri-Aids Inc. will also be an Official Supplier and Sponsor for
USA Triathlon (USAT) for 2006 and 2007. This will include
